a couple choosing an online intimacy coach together

OK, so you finally reached a point in your life where you realize you need some help in the sex department. Trust me, I have been there! Unfortunately for me, I was 18 years old in 2008, there was no social media coaches that were well known at the time, I was broke, and didn't know what the fuck I was doing. Fortunate for you, you live in a world where information and resources are at your fingertips, coaches provide services online, and you can access this support like... NOW. So, how do you go about choosing the best one for you? After all this is the person you'll be sharing some of the most intimate parts of your life!

In today’s digital world, finding an intimacy coach can be a life-changing step toward deeper romantic relationships, enhanced sexuality, and a more fulfilling intimate life. Whether you’re exploring sexual desire, working through sexual challenges, or seeking relationship coaching, the right coach can provide expert guidance tailored to your needs.

But with so many options, how do you find the best sex and relationship coach for your specific situation? Whether you're looking for sex coaching, a licensed sex therapist, or a sex and intimacy coach, this guide will help you navigate your search and make an informed choice.

Please note- I am a Life and Intimacy Coach, not a licensed therapist. I have been trained as a therapist and have obtained my higher education degree with the intentions of becoming a therapist, but when I discovered coaching, I fell in love!

The difference between therapy and coaching is that therapy focuses on past experiences and how they have shaped you to be who you are today. It seeks to process and heal your current life situations as they pertain to your past. Coaching is goal oriented and focuses more on where you would like to be in the future. It takes information from your current situation, past life experiences to break unwanted patterns and get you on a trajectory of life you desire to be on. It is much more action oriented and seeks to change and transform your life in a powerful way.

Coaching is what I provide, but I do believe strongly in having both a therapist and a coach who can support you on your journey. Both are phenomenal tools for healing and in this blog I give you information on both. Enjoy!

Why Work with an Online Intimacy Coach?

An intimacy coaching professional offers a unique blend of sex education, emotional support, and personalized strategies to help you uncover a more empowered relationship with your own sexuality. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which often focuses on mental and emotional aspects, sex coaching is action-oriented and can include practices to cultivate pleasure, improve sexual health, and enhance your sexual relationships.

Key benefits of working with a sex coach include:

  • Convenience – Access expert guidance from the comfort of your own home

  • Shame-Free Space – Address sexual issues, performance anxiety, and sexual dysfunction without pressure

  • Personalized Approach – Coaches tailor strategies to your unique needs, whether improving connection with a partner, enhancing pleasure, or overcoming shame

  • Practical Tools & Resources – Many offer hands-on practices beyond what traditional counseling or therapy provides

Step 1: Define Your Goals for Intimacy Coaching

Before selecting a sex and intimacy coach, ask yourself:

  • Do I want to improve my sexual desire and cultivate a great sex life?

  • Am I struggling with sexual dysfunction, past trauma, or shame?

  • Do I want to feel more comfortable talking about sexuality with my partner?

  • Am I looking for supportive coaching to explore new aspects of my sexual relationships?

Clarifying your goals will help you determine whether you need an online sex coach, a certified sex educator, or a sex therapist specializing in sexual health.

Step 2: Look for a Coach with the Right Background

Not all sex and relationship professionals have the same qualifications. Some specialize in education and coaching, while others are trained in sex therapy. When researching potential coaches, look for:

βœ”οΈ Certified Sex Coaching Credentials – Certifications in sex coaching, intimacy coaching, or relationship coaching
βœ”οΈ Specialized Focus – Some coaches focus on specific challenges, such as overcoming shame, enhancing pleasure, or navigating non-traditional intimate relationships
βœ”οΈ Years of Experience – Seek out professionals with a proven track record of helping clients transform their romantic relationships

Step 3: Consider Their Coaching Style

Every sex and intimacy coach has a unique approach. Some rely on talk therapy techniques, while others use embodiment practices to help clients reconnect with their body and pleasure. Popular coaching styles include:

  • Somatic Coaching – Uses movement and breath work to release shame and develop a deeper intimacy with your sexuality

  • Cognitive-Based Coaching – Focuses on shifting negative beliefs about sexuality, relationships, and self-worth

  • Sex Therapy & Counseling – If you need structured psychological support, a sex therapist may provide a mix of talk therapy and behavioral strategies

  • Tantric & Energetic Practices – Helps expand sexual desire, deepen connection, and remove pressure around sexual contact

Look for a sex coaching approach that resonates with your personal preferences and comfort level.

Step 4: Check Their Online Presence and Content

A credible intimacy coach should have accessible content that gives insight into their approach. Explore their:

  • Website & Blog – Read about their philosophy on sexual health, pleasure, and relationships

  • Social Media & Videos – Watch how they talk about sex, intimacy, and coaching to see if their personality fits your needs

  • Free Resources & Webinars – Many coaches offer free guides, masterclasses, or discovery calls to introduce their coaching style

If their content feels supportive, positive, and aligned with your needs, they might be a great fit.

Step 5: Book a Connection Call

Most sex and intimacy coaches offer a free consultation to see if they’re a match for your coaching needs. Use this time to ask:

  • What is your focus as a sex and relationship coach?

  • How do you support clients through sexual challenges or intimate relationships?

  • What is your approach to sexual health, pleasure, and education?

  • Do you offer structured training or customized sessions?

A great coach should make you feel safe talking about your concerns without judgment.

Step 6: Compare Pricing and Coaching Structures

Online sex coaching comes in various formats, from one-time sessions to long-term training programs. Consider:

πŸ’° One-on-One Coaching – Personalized attention tailored to your sexuality and sexual issues
πŸ’° Group Coaching – A community setting that explores relationships, sexuality, and personal growth
πŸ’° Hybrid Coaching – A mix of self-paced education and live sessions

Step 7: Trust Your Instincts

Ultimately, choosing the right sex and intimacy coach is about trusting your intuition. The right coach should:

  • Make you feel safe, supported, and empowered

  • Offer expert guidance without pressure or judgment

  • Align with your values around sexual health, education, and relationships
